Game Sharing, then splitting?
Hi,
I am pretty much a newbi on GW. Level 8.5 My son bought the game and is running it on my machine so I created a character and we have been game sharing. Well, I have subsequently found out that game shring is an evil sin and I want to be able to play at the same time as my son anyway, so I am going to build him a PC just for GW. When I do get him off my machine, is there any way to get my character into my new account? |

Pretty sure you can't. The character will always be linked with that account.

I dont think sharing an account this way is wrong in anyway, but still transferring characters between accounts is not possible as of this date (so far as i know
Cheers! |

I don't believe so. You'll have to start over. It shouldn't take that long to get back to level 8. Wish I had better news.
EDIT: Damn! Too slow! |

That's kinda what I thought.
If I buy my own copy can I have my son play on his account and then I play on my account and then when he gets his own machine he take his charcter with him? It's not linked to the machine or the CD-Key on the machine is it? |

No. You can play your account on any machine that has guild Wars installed on it.

Thanks for the input, I will pickup a copy ASAP so I can start over. At least maybe I can get the same weapons.
Back to the pre-searing for me! |

Buying my own account was the best thing I did for myself. I started on my husband's account. I have an El/Mo there with 800k exp and 15k Pyro armor. She's my husband's farmer now. I played over a month on his acct and finished the game's storyline missions and all the quests prior to the update. I had to start ALL over when I bought my account. Get yourself one before you get any further. You'll be glad you did.

You can transport weapons to your new character - provided they aren't customised.
If they are, salvage them and hopefully you get something back. |

Very true. If you haven't deleted the character, your son could have him give you all the items you had previously.

Go to a Xulnai Storage and get a vault...You can share weapons, gold, everything you have, between the characters you have on the account. Get a storage unit (50G), and put everything you want your new account character to have(Gold, weapons, armor...like I said, everything) in the vault. Then, when your new character makes it to post-searing, have your son meet you in Old Ascalon, he gets everything you had in your vault and places it into his inventory, then he just trades with you(for free, I hope). There, you have everything back.

It kills him because his best buds are both on now. I feel bad, 'cause I know he is bummed, but you gotta do what you gotta do. |

Need more dads like you. Spend time with your kids in things that interest them, and you still manage to lay down the law when need be. Good for you.

Shoot I guess I was raised wacky. My dad always wanted to play computer games with me. To the point where he would get sad when I chose my friends over him. My mother would stop me some days simply to tell me my dad is looking forward to gaming with me at some point as a hint that I need to go up and play video games with him. When was a freshman in college he found out about AO before I did played for two months then convinced me to join him. Now I am 23 and working and he is 50. We live 100 miles apart still game online together and it is a rule every weekend I go out there I must bring my laptop so my mother, father, and I together can play a video game of some sort together.
Good work on disciplining for grades though too. Shoot I remember in Jr. High I got an F on same paper and hell broke loose. Lets just say I never got an F again. |
